INTI RAYMI FESTIVITIES

day 1

15.06.

Arrival in Lima and transfer to the hotel.

day 2

Transfer along the Panamericana to Paracas. Boat ride to the Ballestas Islands and continue to Nazca inclusive visit of the Regional Museum in Ica en route.

day 3

17.06.

Full day transfer to the colonial city of Arequipa. Optional: Overflight Nazca Lines.

day 4

Half day city tour with visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery. Afterwards beginning of the 2-day trip to the Colca Canyon. Lunchbox and dinner inclusive.

day 5

Visit of the Cruz del Condor and Tapay. After lunch continue to Puno via Pinchollo, Maca and Yaque. Visit of Sillustani on route.

day 6

Transfer to Copacabana and Catamaran ride to the Sun Island incl. lunch. Continue to Chua and bus transfer to Puerto Perez.

day 7

Visit of the Aymara New Year Festival in Tiwanaku. The ceremony held during the sunrise, when the sun is shining through the impressive sun gate, is the most important. Colourful dances, beautifully decorated lamas, Indians wearing their most precious clothes are a nice contrast to the old ruins of Tiwanaku. Afterwards Transfer to La Paz incl. lunchbox. City tour with visit to the Moon Valley.

22.06.

Private bus transfer from La Paz to Puno.

day 9

23.06.

Private bus transfer to Cuzco incl. visit to Racchi und Andahuaylillas

day 10

Full day visit to the Inti Raymi Celebrations. The most important festival for the Incas takes place every year on the esplanade below the imposing fortress of Sacsayhuaman, where thousands of actors enact a long ceremony giving thanks to the sun god, Inti.

day 11

25.06.

Half day city tour incl. visit of the ruins around Cuzco.

day 12

26.06.

Full day excursion to visit the Indian market in Pisac and the ruins of Ollantaytambo.

day 13

27.06.

Transfer by Orient Express Vistadome train and by shuttle bus to Machu Picchu. Guided visit of the ruin site.

day 14

Transfer to the airport for the Lima and further to Europe.
