CHILE - LAKE DISTRICT

Day 1

Arrival at the airport in Puerto Montt and transfer to the hotel.
Drive along the Llanquihue lake. Visit of the Petrohue rapids with the volcano Osorno in the back. Lunch. With jeeps ascend the volcano Osorno to an altitude of 1.600m. Wonderful view of the lake slabs. Trekking up to the Osorno. Return to Puerto Varas.

Day 2

Drive on the Panamericana to Pargua, boat ride along the Chacao channel to Chacao on the Island Chiloé, country of witches. Drive to Caulin bay, famous for its oyster breeding station. Here you can see pink flamingos. Enjoy a Pisco Sour Cocktail with fresh oysters! Typical curanto lunch - delicious, fresh sea food and fish, prepared in a burrow. Visit of the harbour town Ancud and the penguin colony of Punihuil. Magellan and Humboldt penguins live here. Return to Puerto Montt and visit of Angelmo’s fish market.

Day 3

In the early morning journey to the Horseback riding farm Los Volcanos. Horse-riding trip to the top of volcano Calbuco. The 3 ½ hours ride will lead through an ancient forest, the Canyon of Rio Blanco, passing wonderful valleys and impressive lava landscapes. At an altitude of 800m the walk continues by foot up to the edge of the crater, located at an altitude of 2000 m. Return to the foot of the volcano and to Puerto Varas.

Day 4

On the Panamericana the journey goes on to Calbuco, one of the Islands of the Chiloé archipel, visit of the picturesque village. Time to hoist the sails! With one of the few chilotic wooden sailing boats navigation to Chaullin Island. Welcome by a folklore group. Visit of the 1000 years old Arrayanes forest. Immerge into the silence of this giant forest and feel the force of those 1000 years old giants. Afterwards Curanto or other specialties will be served. Return to Puerto Varas.

Day 5

Rafting Tour on the Petrohue river (Nov – Apr) through the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. Approximately 1 ½ hours rafting around the volcanoes Osorno, Calbuco and Puntiagudo.
